It appears that things are never what they seem, who would guess that the small town librarian had a chequered past and that the nice man you married is actually a raging psychopath?

Joanne Moore must come to grips with these realities in Darlene Cox’s A Little Bit of Larceny.  When her long time friend and confidant dies in mysterious circumstances and leaves Joanne as her sole heir, she is startled to learn that Abigail Crittendon had much more of a past than a small town librarian has a right to. Sexy lingerie and fancy gowns, not to mention safety deposit boxes scattered all over the country full of cash and jewels. Add to that an abusive, stalker of an ex-husband and you have the ingredients for an intriguing, multi-faceted mystery.

Darlene Cox presents us with a plot that has more twists and turns than a Six Flags roller coaster.  Two mysteries run counter-point to each other and the reader is eager to peel back the layers and discover what is truth and what is a cleverly laid trail of red herrings. Maybe, as Joanne Moore says, there is a little bit of larceny in all of us. You be the judge.
